ORIGINAL FICTIONAL COORDINATE EXERCISE
From meters to two geographic points
GeoPandas converted the supplied Web Mercator meters into geographic coordinates. This map retains the actual generated point data and popup code. No street tiles are loaded.
Inspect the conversion
| Point | Source x/y, meters | Output lon/lat, degrees |
|---|---|---|
| Fictional A | 111319.490793 / 0 | 1 / 0 |
| Fictional B | 222638.981587 / 111325.142866 | 2 / 1 |
Output coordinates are rounded here. The native data agree with the expected values within 0.00000001 degrees.
Changing a CRS label does not move the points. The separately checked relabel-only operation retained the original meter values. These teaching points do not represent real inspection sites.
This is a prepared reading copy: the generated map code and data are retained, Leaflet is embedded, and this explanation and inspection buttons are added. The untouched native file still refers to external libraries.
