Draw the thing
before you build the thing
Six weeks of interface design for people who already write code. You will finish with three screens you would actually ship and a way of working you keep.
Why people take it
Three things that never get better
on their own.
Not because you lack taste, but because nobody ever showed you the small set of decisions that make a layout feel considered.
Six versions, none finished. Without a rule to test against, every option looks equally reasonable and nothing gets picked.
You draw it, then draw it again in code, and the two drift apart by Wednesday. We fix that by designing where it ships.
Curriculum
Six weeks. Nothing you
will not use on Monday.
Who teaches it
One teacher, every session.
Robin Aldercott
Design lead, fifteen years
Spent eight years building interfaces at companies where the product was the interface, then four running a studio that only took rescue work. Has redrawn more dashboards than anyone should, and can say exactly why most of them failed.
Teaches the way the work actually goes: open the real file, make the real decision, argue about it, move on. There is no theory week.
What you leave with
Three finished screens,
not three exercises.

★★★★★
I stopped starting over. That alone paid for it. The critique sessions are uncomfortable in the way that works.
Dana Whitlow · backend engineer★★★★★
Week three changed how I write CSS. I had been solving layout problems that were really typography problems.
Idris Kaye · founder★★★★☆
Excellent, but it is genuinely two evenings a week. Do not take it during a launch.
Mira Solberg · product managerQuestions
Asked before every cohort.
No. Every exercise starts from a grid and a type scale, not a blank page. People who cannot draw a straight line finish with the same screens as everyone else.
What if I miss a session?Every session is recorded and stays with you. The critique slots can be moved once per cohort, and there is an office hour each Friday for catching up.
Which tools do we use?A browser and whichever editor you already have. We design in code from week two because that is where the decisions actually hold.
Is there a refund?Full refund until the end of week two, no reason needed. After that we will move you to a later cohort instead.
