The example calculates two eligible questions after fixed Q1 is removed. Category A contains Q1,Q2,Q3; fixed Q1 leaves Q2/Q3 for two random slots. Requesting three random slots holds the blueprint one record short. A separate arithmetic panel scales 1 out of 2 native points to 2 out of 4 slot points. Neither result is a Moodle preview or a real learner grade.

Write the bank before selecting slots
Use three original supplied-label questions. Q1 asks for the record label on a card saying Cedar, with key Cedar. Q2 asks for the shelf ID on a card saying S-12, with key S-12. Q3 asks for the item code on a card saying IT-07, with key IT-07. Keep distractors distinct and propose single-answer multiple choice without partial credit for this bank. The visible card supplies the information; the exercise does not claim memory assessment or measured learner ability.
Map each logical ID to its eventual native bank identity and question version. Keep category, filter settings, subcategories, availability and permissions with the manifest. A displayed title or row number does not establish which native question record a slot references. Several revisions of one logical question are not several independently authored questions. Confirm the installed Moodle version and actual version-selection behavior before accepting the intended pool, leaving native IDs blank until the records exist.
Compute eligibility as a set
The original pool {Q1,Q2,Q3} minus fixed {Q1} leaves {Q2,Q3}. Two random slots can draw those two distinct records without Q1 or duplication. Moodle's building guide describes excluding fixed questions, avoiding duplicates and requiring sufficient eligible records. In this tiny unchanged fixture every valid selection has the same two-record set, even if slot assignment or display order varies. Do not promise a different question set on every attempt simply because the slots are labeled random.
Increase the requested count to three and keep the bank unchanged. The helper reports three required versus two eligible, one short. Do not fill the gap with a duplicate, fixed Q1 or blank content. Reduce slots or prepare additional reviewed content under a new manifest. Pause quiz preparation if the eligible pool is empty, a record is unavailable, or a filter is unconfirmed. Exact native error wording and timing require an actual preview in the installed environment rather than being invented in the preparation page.
Keep points conversion independent
For the separate hypothetical arithmetic case, earned 1 divided by question maximum 2 times slot maximum 4 equals 2 out of 4. It is not a final quiz grade or a half-credit response supplied for Q1-Q3. Keep the three numeric inputs labeled, reject a zero question maximum and earned points outside its range, and show the formula. A later native partial-credit test needs a separately identified question/configuration; adding it silently to category A would alter the pool being checked.
Before building, trace bank identity, slot identity and point maximum separately. In Moodle, inspect the current pool, preview the quiz, and record selected IDs and versions. Check that fixed questions are excluded and random selections are distinct, then run the separate grading test. Retain previous preview evidence with its original settings when categories, filters or versions change. The local helper gives a complete eligibility and arithmetic preparation result while the native Moodle bank and attempt records remain authoritative.
Make your own working example
Build an original Moodle quiz blueprint helper, not an LMS or native preview. Fixed question Q1 is excluded from bank pool Q1,Q2,Q3. Provide random-slot count default 2, Check pool, Three-slot case, Empty-pool case and Reset. Derive distinct eligible Q2,Q3 and show count 2. Three requested slots holds one short; empty eligible pool holds. Never reuse Q1 or duplicate Q2 to fill gaps.
Show the original label bank: Q1 Cedar, Q2 S-12, Q3 IT-07, each with supplied prompt and correct answer. Keep logical/native ID mapping separate; native IDs and observed slot assignments remain unknown. The unchanged tiny bank can only produce the same eligible set, not guaranteed new sets each attempt.
Add a separate points calculator earned 1, native maximum 2, slot maximum 4, yielding 2/4. Reject blanks, negative or out-of-range earned values and nonpositive native maximum. Label the result hypothetical and separate from Q1-Q3 grading. No Moodle connection, imported questions, native error transcript, learner gradebook or persistence. Keep explicit formula, pool IDs and changed-state feedback visible.
Use one self-contained HTML file with no remote dependency. Keep the initial sample, output, and labeled controls near the top. Use at least 16px text, strong contrast, visible focus, and a stacked layout at 360px without horizontal overflow. Use explicit type=button click handlers and explicit DOM selectors; do not depend on native form submission. Clear stale feedback when task inputs change. Render entered text safely. Keep practice data local to the current page; do not imply saving, sending, or production integration. Return only the finished HTML.
Explain the held blueprint
Keep native bank and preview records in Moodle. For an HTML preparation note, NOS permits eligible static text to be revised visually without asking AI to regenerate it. Clarify why the third random slot is short before the quiz builder changes the actual pool.
