Your personal plan says “essay Friday,” but the course deadline is Monday at 5 p.m. Keep the official due date and your next planned work session in different fields. An assignment tracker for students should help you decide what to do next without quietly changing what the course requires.
Start with the assignment instructions and the actual course record. Give each item a course label, assignment ID, deliverable, due-date source, next action, and submission route. If a detail is missing, write the question you need to resolve instead of borrowing the date from another assignment.

Build the tracker from three contrasting records
This original fictional study week contains three assignments. Its course names, dates, instructions, and planning choices are invented demonstration inputs.
- W01, Writing — Source comparison: a short comparison document. Fictional instruction W-BRIEF-2 gives November 9, 2026, at 5 p.m.; the course time zone is not supplied. Personal next session: November 6, to select two permitted sources. Submission destination: not supplied.
- L01, Lab — Observation summary: fictional instruction L-BRIEF-1 gives November 10, 2026, without a time. Next action: ask where the required observation record is located and confirm the cutoff time. No personal work session has been entered.
- S01, Seminar — Discussion response: the prompt is recorded, but the due date and submission route are not supplied. Next action: check the maintained course instructions.
Three assignment records do not mean three known deadlines. One has a supplied date and time with its time zone unresolved, one has a date without a time, and one lacks a due date. Do not sort the unknown deadline to the end and treat it as less urgent. It needs a check of the course record.
Use the semester view to find competing work
Cornell's Learning Strategies Center recommends listing exams, major assignments, projects, and important due dates on a semester calendar. It distinguishes that overview from weekly planning. Use the overview to notice competing deadlines, then reserve actual work time separately.
For W01, November 6 is the student's intended preparation session; November 9 is the supplied course date. Moving the preparation session does not move the course deadline. When a course instruction changes, retain the new source reference and check the resulting date before revising the tracker.
Keep assignment-specific steps concrete. “Work on essay” leaves the next decision hidden. “Select the two sources required by W-BRIEF-2” names a task the student can begin. Do not add research, formatting, or submission requirements that the actual brief does not contain.
Track preparation and submission as different facts
A drafted document is not a submitted document. Add an actual submission record only after using the course's required route and checking the available confirmation. The example contains no submitted work or receipt; it therefore shows none.
The downloadable tracker lets you inspect all three courses or one course at a time. Each filter preserves the source and missing details. It changes the reading view, not the course record, reminders, or a learning platform.
When the next work session needs a specific skill to practice, the student goal-setting sheet separates the chosen goal, practice and evidence for a check-in. Keep that practice plan alongside this tracker without treating its review date as an assignment deadline or its progress note as a submission receipt.
Copy an assignment-record brief
Create one complete HTML student assignment tracker reading copy.
Actual courses, assignment IDs and required deliverables: [PASTE]
Due dates/times/time zones with exact instruction references: [PASTE]
Personal work sessions and specific next actions: [PASTE]
Required submission routes and actual receipts, if any: [PASTE]
Separate official deadlines from personal plans and actual submission.
Keep unknown dates/times/routes visible with the next question.
Do not infer priority from an unknown date or call drafted work submitted.
Show the original source reference beside each assignment and include
a reusable blank record. Optional course filters only change the view.
No invented instructions, reminders, receipts, grades or platform sync.
Return full self-contained HTML with local CSS/JS and readable rows.
The Markdown task-list guide explains how a reading copy preserves recorded checks. This tracker adds the course instruction and deadline context those checks do not contain. Finish by checking the next unclear assignment against its actual brief, then update your maintained study record.
