This workflow uses native ChatGPT Slides. OpenAI's October 2026 documentation lists Pro, Business, and Enterprise with Space access, with rollout eligibility still applying. On the web, ask ChatGPT in Work to create ChatGPT slides, or start in Space with Create > Slide. Create and edit slides
Give the deck one decision to support
A presentation outline gets easier to review when every slide serves the same meeting decision. Suppose a fictional library team must decide whether to run a second equipment-checkout pilot. Its approved notes say:
- Twelve volunteers took part in the first pilot.
- Nine completed checkout without help; three needed help finding the return date.
- No checkout-time measurements were collected.
- A revised return-date label is proposed, and another pilot needs approval.
The deck should explain the first pilot and request approval for the next one. “The new process saves time” would be an unsupported result. A chart of nine unassisted and three assisted completions is supported; a chart of minutes saved is not.
Keep an existing template separate from the facts. A reference deck can guide typography and slide structure without supplying this pilot's dates, findings, or outcomes.
Ask for an editable deck from those notes
Create ChatGPT slides in Space for a meeting about whether to run a
second equipment-checkout pilot.
Audience: the team approving the next pilot.
Decision needed: approve or decline another pilot with a revised
return-date label.
Approved facts:
12 volunteers took part. Nine completed checkout without help.
Three needed help finding the return date. No checkout-time
measurements were collected. The revised label is a proposal.
No second-pilot date, budget, or approval has been confirmed.
Use four slides:
1. The decision requested.
2. What happened in the first pilot, including the 9-and-3 split.
3. The proposed label change and what the next pilot would examine.
4. The unresolved decisions and who needs to confirm them [OWNER].
Keep facts separate from proposals. Do not add time savings, quotes,
financial benefits, or a confirmed date. Put the numbers beside any
chart so they remain readable. Use short slide text and add speaking
notes only where explanation is needed. If information is missing,
leave a clear placeholder instead of completing it from assumptions.
This is an authored prompt and fictional case, not a record of a generated deck. Replace the facts and decision with your own permitted material.
Revise the element that changed
Read the deck once from the audience's perspective. Can someone identify the approval requested? Does the pilot slide distinguish observation from a proposed improvement? Do its labels retain “needed help finding the return date,” rather than broadening that to “failed checkout”?
In Slides, select the element to change, choose Request edits, and describe the revision. For the fictional pilot, a specific request would be:
On this selected chart, replace “Failed” with “Needed help finding
the return date.” Keep the values 9 and 3, their categories, and all
other slides unchanged. Do not imply that either group saved time.
Inspect the changed label and its surrounding explanation. A correct chart title cannot repair a speaker note that still makes the unsupported time-saving claim. For text that needs simpler wording, targeted proofreading helps separate language edits from changes to meaning.
Check the form you will actually present
ChatGPT Slides supports direct editing of slide elements and collaboration by people with edit access. On the web, export options include PowerPoint, PDF, and Google Slides; OpenAI tells users to inspect exported content and formatting. These are native deck operations, rather than an HTML-to-PowerPoint conversion. Slides editing and export
If the meeting requires PowerPoint, open the exported file in PowerPoint before sending it. Check the revised chart label, text wrapping, notes you intend to use, and any missing elements. Keep the accepted deck and exported copy distinguishable so later revisions do not accidentally use an older file.
If native Slides is unavailable, an outline in chat is still only an outline. Use your normal presentation editor to create the required deck, or follow the separate ChatGPT-to-PowerPoint layout discussion if your actual problem is a conversion that changed the layout.
Finish by rehearsing the decision slide and the evidence slide together. The audience should hear what you are asking them to approve and which observed facts support that request.
