ChatGPT quizzes: practice decisions and check why an answer fits

You recognize every term in your notes, but a question that puts two of them in the same situation is harder. Ask ChatGPT for a quiz based on the notes, answer inside the conversation, and review the explanation against the exact rule you were meant to apply.

ChatGPT supports interactive quizzes in conversation on consumer and Edu plans on web and mobile. A separate Quizzes shortcut can vary by account or app; you can also ask Study to quiz you. OpenAI's August 14, 2026 release notes and study instructions describe those routes. The practice here stays inside ChatGPT rather than creating an HTML quiz to distribute.

Give the quiz a small, checkable source

Paste the rules or permitted notes for the topic you want to practice. If they come from a larger file, identify the relevant section. Ask ChatGPT to keep the source boundaries, so a plausible general answer does not replace the rule your course or workplace uses.

For this original fictional example, a workshop organizer uses three registration rules:

  • Joining the waitlist does not reserve a seat.
  • A seat invitation expires at 6 p.m. on the day after it is sent.
  • Registration is confirmed only after the organizer receives the acceptance form and payment.

The notes say nothing about refunds or transferring an invitation to another person. A quiz asking about either would require another source. Those omissions are useful to identify before practice begins.

Ask for questions that distinguish the rules

Quiz me inside this ChatGPT conversation using only these fictional
workshop-registration rules:
1. Joining the waitlist does not reserve a seat.
2. A seat invitation expires at 6 p.m. on the day after it is sent.
3. Registration is confirmed only after the organizer receives the
   acceptance form and payment.

Make four short scenario questions that test which rule applies.
Include plausible answer choices that distinguish waitlisting,
an active invitation, and confirmed registration. Avoid making the
correct option obvious by its length
or by copying the question's wording.

Let me answer before showing the answer and explanation. For each
explanation, name the rule that supports it. Do not invent refunds,
transfer rights, or an exception. If a scenario cannot be
answered from these notes, explain what information is missing.

After practice, identify any rule I confused and ask one new scenario
about that distinction. Treat this as practice, not a certified test.

Use the quiz's answer controls when they appear. If ChatGPT returns ordinary text instead, request one question at a time and answer in the conversation. Study can ask questions and give feedback; it can also make mistakes. Study mode's question-and-feedback workflow

Review the reason, even when the answer is right

An authored practice question might ask: “A seat invitation was sent on Monday at 10 a.m. When does it expire?” The supported answer is Tuesday at 6 p.m. Selecting Tuesday at 10 a.m. would turn a next-day deadline into a rolling 24-hour window, which the notes do not establish.

For a confirmation question, both the acceptance form and payment are required. “The form arrived, so registration is confirmed” leaves out one condition. If ChatGPT marks that option correct, paste the rule and ask it to revise both the answer key and explanation.

Keep a brief record of the confusion rather than only the score:

Missed distinction What to look for next time
Next-day deadline versus 24 hours Which day and clock time does the rule name?
One completed step versus confirmation Has the organizer received both the form and payment?
Missing policy versus wrong recall Do the supplied notes contain the requested fact?

These are fictional review notes, not results from a learner or a live ChatGPT run.

Ask a different question about the same boundary

After correcting an explanation, change the scenario. “Payment arrived, but the acceptance form is missing” tests the confirmation condition from the other direction. Repeating the same wording would mainly test whether you remember the previous option. Then ask a Friday invitation question to check whether the explanation silently adds a business-day exception that the notes never supplied.

For recall of individual terms, a native ChatGPT flashcard deck may suit the task. For reasoning through a longer problem with hints, use Study mode. For a quiz classmates should open outside ChatGPT, the separate HTML quiz workflow has a different output and distribution process.

End a practice session by returning to the source rule you confused and explaining it in your own words. A score tells you which answers were accepted; that explanation helps reveal whether you can apply the rule in a new situation.
