The review is part of sharing. Reading only the final answer can miss a name, attachment, or instruction earlier in the conversation.
Decide what the recipient needs to see
For a public workshop lookup, a colleague may need the date, booking condition, and source link. They probably do not need an unrelated internal discussion you used to explain why you were researching it.
Make that decision before creating the link. You could send the checked answer and its public source as a message. Share the conversation when the reasoning or follow-up context actually helps the recipient.
If you need a cleaner exchange, start with permitted public information and ask for the limited answer you intend to circulate. Do not copy the earlier confidential context into the new chat merely to obtain a shorter summary.
Review the shared view and its audience
Choose Share, inspect the content and available options, then use Create link or Copy link as shown. Depending on the experience, a share may contain conversation history, a single response, supported images, or uploaded files. Open the resulting view before sending it. Personal-account links can be opened by anyone who has the link. Managed-workspace links are limited to eligible members of that workspace. Check the account and sharing notice; a link's complicated address does not tell you who can access it. Shared-link access conditions
In the workshop example, inspect both the answer and anything above it. Confirm that the view contains the intended source and no unrelated names or files. If the exposed context is too broad, stop and use the smaller message or clean conversation instead.
Know whether later messages can appear
A personal-account conversation link is a snapshot that changes when you update it. Workspace conversation links can include later messages. Read the sharing notice before adding more information to an already shared work conversation. How shared conversations update
For a review request, keep the recipient's decision clear in the message accompanying the link: “Please check the event date against the linked organizer page.” That is more useful than sending a long exchange without saying which part needs attention.
If the date changes after review, check the actual shared view before assuming the recipient sees the correction. The working conversation and what the link exposes need to agree.
Remove access when the link is no longer needed
Open Settings > Data controls > Shared links > Manage. Delete the specific shared link when its review is finished. Deleting the link stops future access through that address; it does not erase a separate copy the recipient already saved. Manage shared links
Keep the approved answer in your normal team record if you need it later. If your goal is a local account archive, exporting ChatGPT data is a different task from giving someone a conversation link.
Before sending any share, open its final view and ask whether every visible part belongs in that recipient's hands. Use the smallest useful record of the discussion.
