A room settings panel needs to show property names alongside their current values. A for in loop can visit those names, but the interface should display only the settings belonging to this particular object rather than inherited properties.
The room record produces two rows: room: Studio A and capacity:12. The property name is important because a bare value such as 12 would not explain itself. For in gives the loop those names, and the ownership guard keeps the result focused on the settings belonging to this record. The display is a readable inspection view, not a form that rewrites the original object.

Build the working example
const data = {"room":"Studio A","capacity":12};
const result = (()=>{if(data===null||typeof data!=='object'||Array.isArray(data))return 'Enter a settings object';const rows=[];for(const key in data){if(Object.hasOwn(data,key))rows.push(key+': '+String(data[key]));}return rows;})();
console.log(result);
The loop receives room and capacity as property keys. The ownership check excludes inherited enumerable properties before the corresponding value is read. Each accepted pair becomes a readable row in a new array; no settings are deleted or rewritten.
For in visits enumerable string properties. The current key is used twice: first to check ownership, then to read the corresponding value. Object.hasOwn accepts room and capacity as this object's own keys. Each accepted pair becomes a string in rows. This is related to Object.keys and Object.entries, but the intent differs: those methods create arrays of keys or pairs first, while this example shows property iteration and the inherited property issue directly. When all you need is a list of own entries, Object.entries is often the simpler starting point.
The original input returns:
[
"room: Studio A",
"capacity: 12"
]

Test the boundary that matters
Add equipment with the value Projector and run the preview again. A third equipment: Projector row should appear. An empty object produces an empty array because there are no enumerable settings to visit. An array produces the input message; its numeric property keys are not the intended room settings. Pasted JSON produces ordinary data objects here, but the ownership check documents the rule clearly if this loop is later used with objects that have inherited enumerable properties.

For in visits enumerable string keys, including inherited ones. It is not the right default for array values; for of expresses that job more directly.
If the complete page stops before producing a result, compare it with the checks in HTML JavaScript not working.
Make one useful change
Add an equipment property and confirm a third row appears. Explain why the ownership guard remains useful even when this JSON sample has no inherited settings.
For the exercise, include equipment and confirm the new setting survives without changing room or capacity. Then explain the guard in plain language: show a row only when this record owns the property. Do not assume a loop over names is a deep traversal. A nested address would appear as a converted value in this small example; displaying its subfields would require a separate, intentional formatting decision.
The settings inspection page is ready for a venue teammate to compare with the room specification. They can add a key and see whether its label makes sense without editing the loop itself. Share the complete room settings preview through NOS as a discussion artifact. If the team later needs editing or saving, add those features separately rather than assuming that displaying a property creates a database field.
For the exact syntax and behavior, see MDN: for in.
