A search preview shows three destinations, but the full page still needs all results. Removing extra entries would lose useful data.
The search returns five destinations, but its compact preview should show only Kyoto, Lisbon, and Seoul. We will copy the first three entries while leaving Oslo and Lima available for the full results page. slice expresses that display boundary directly.

Try the working result
The result has three entries and the source still has five. Add another destination and update the preview; the first three remain the preview. This is a fixed-size excerpt, rather than a filter based on the destination’s name or location.
Use Changed data for another preset, or edit the JSON and press Update preview. The controls use sample data; they do not contact a backend.

Follow the code
slice copies from index 0 up to, but excluding, index 3. The original list stays intact.
slice(0, 3) starts at index 0 and stops before index 3. The exclusive end selects indexes 0, 1, and 2. The returned array is new; slice does not remove those entries from the source. Omit the end argument when you want the remaining entries from the starting position.
const data = [
"Kyoto",
"Lisbon",
"Seoul",
"Oslo",
"Lima"
];
const result = data.slice(0, 3);
console.log(result);
The original sample returns:
[
"Kyoto",
"Lisbon",
"Seoul"
]
Compare the lengths as well as the names: three preview items coexist with five full results. This matters when a Show all action still needs the complete source.

Take the small version apart
The starter uses the same operation with a simpler layout. Choose Edit code to inspect its HTML and script, or Copy code to save the complete example as index.html. Open that file in your browser to run it without a framework. JSON inputs need double-quoted keys and strings.

Avoid the common mistake
The end index is exclusive. slice(0, 2) yields two entries, not three.
The second argument is an ending index, not a count independent of the start. slice(2, 3) returns only Seoul, whereas slice(2, 5) returns three destinations. Copies are shallow too: slicing an array of objects keeps references to those objects.
Change one rule, then check it
Build a last-two-results preview using a negative start.
An empty list returns []. For the final two destinations, try data.slice(-2) and expect Oslo and Lima. If the source has fewer than three entries, slice(0, 3) returns those available entries; it does not invent missing ones or pad the preview.

The MDN reference covers the full syntax and browser support. If your saved page does not run its script, the HTML and JavaScript guide helps check the file setup.
Put the example in someone else's hands
A compact results panel should make its limit clear without losing the complete list. Share this preview and let a reviewer try one destination, five destinations, and an empty list. The behavior is easier to judge when they can vary the input themselves.
Copy the complete HTML and use HTML to link to share the runnable file through NOS. Each visitor can try the browser-side example; this does not synchronize edits or add a shared database.
