A comparison basket holds a camera and two tripods during a product search. Starting over should remove every temporary entry together. The example shows an empty entry list and a zero key count while preserving the initial JSON so you can repeat the reset.
The result is count zero and an empty entries array. A basket entry pairs a product with a quantity, but clear removes the pair as a whole. It is not changing quantities to zero or keeping placeholders for previously selected items. That empty state can make a comparison screen show its initial prompt again.

Try the result before changing the rule
Edit the JSON and select Update preview to rerun the same expression. Original data restores this starting sample; Changed data supplies another preset. The operation runs locally in the example, so trying a value does not send an invitation, change a product, or save a setting.

Follow one run
A fresh Map receives the basket entries. clear removes every key-value pair and returns undefined. The wrapper reads size and converts the cleared Map into an array for visible confirmation. The method needs no key argument and clearing an empty collection is also valid.
const data = {
"basket": [
[
"camera",
1
],
[
"tripod",
2
]
]
};
const result = (() => { const basket = new Map(data.basket); basket.clear(); return {count:basket.size, entries:Array.from(basket)}; })();
console.log(result);
The starting sample returns:
{
"count": 0,
"entries": []
}
The source uses entry pairs so you can see every key and value before the lookup is constructed. The working Map is separate from that source array. Converting its entries for display does not make the Map itself a JSON array, and reading it does not submit a catalog change.

Check the case that changes the answer
Map.clear empties the Map object it is called on. It does not remove catalog products, submit changes, or erase the array from which this demonstration constructed the basket.
The collection is changed in place and clear returns undefined. Reading size afterward supplies visible evidence that no keys remain. Other code referencing this same Map would also see the cleared contents, while code referencing the original input array would not. The wrapper deliberately keeps those before-and-after representations separate.
The smaller version keeps the same expression with fewer visual elements. Use Edit code to inspect the complete HTML, or Copy code to run it as a local file. If the script does not execute, the JavaScript troubleshooting guide helps check placement and syntax.

Make one edit you can predict
Replace the basket with three products and rerun, then try an empty list. Confirm that reset consistently leaves zero keys without requiring individual delete calls.
Start with three product entries and expect the same zero count. Start with an empty array and reset remains harmless. If a reset confirmation needs the number of products removed, read basket.size before clear and keep that number yourself; the return value of clear does not contain a removed-entry count. Keep resetting the comparison basket separate from deleting products. Those actions may look similar in a local list, but they mean very different things to a shopper.

Keep strings double-quoted when editing this sample. A JSON parsing example explains the difference between a parse error and a valid value that the operation cannot use.
A basket reset can be reviewed without touching product data. Put representative sample entries into the HTML and share the runnable example through NOS, then let a teammate check the zero count and empty list before deciding what the reset confirmation should say. Their preview edits are local to their run; sharing the HTML does not automatically synchronize those edits.
