A picker has product code B08 and needs its shelf location without scanning every label manually. The lookup contains only two entries here, so you can verify the answer immediately. Map.get retrieves the stored value while leaving the catalog as it was.
The visible answer is Shelf 7 for B08. That is the stored location string, not the whole code-location pair. Keeping those roles distinct makes get useful in a picking interface: the code identifies what to retrieve, and the value supplies what the picker needs to see. There is no scan index or quantity hidden in this return value.

Try the result before changing the rule
Edit the JSON and select Update preview to rerun the same expression. Original data restores this starting sample; Changed data supplies another preset. The operation runs locally in the example, so trying a value does not send an invitation, change a product, or save a setting.

Follow one run
The entries create a Map whose keys are product codes. get returns Shelf 7 for B08. An absent code returns undefined, which the inspector can distinguish from a stored string. The operation reads one value; it does not remove the entry or return its position.
const data = {
"locations": [
[
"A12",
"Shelf 3"
],
[
"B08",
"Shelf 7"
]
],
"code": "B08"
};
const result = new Map(data.locations).get(data.code);
console.log(result);
The starting sample returns:
"Shelf 7"
The source uses entry pairs so you can see every key and value before the lookup is constructed. The working Map is separate from that source array. Converting its entries for display does not make the Map itself a JSON array, and reading it does not submit a catalog change.

Check the case that changes the answer
Map.get returns undefined for a missing key and also for a key explicitly storing undefined. Use has when distinguishing those cases matters; JSON itself cannot represent an undefined value.
Key equality matters. B08 and b08 are different strings, and a numeric code is different from its string version. When no key matches, undefined should lead to a useful missing-location state rather than the literal word appearing as a shelf label. Validate and normalize product codes according to your catalog rules first.
The smaller version keeps the same expression with fewer visual elements. Use Edit code to inspect the complete HTML, or Copy code to run it as a local file. If the script does not execute, the JavaScript troubleshooting guide helps check placement and syntax.

Make one edit you can predict
Change the code to A12 and then Z99. Decide what useful message your picker should show when the requested product has no stored shelf location.
Use A12 and expect Shelf 3. Use Z99 and expect the inspector to show undefined. Then add a Z99 pair with Shelf 1 and the lookup returns that location. With an empty locations array, every code is missing; this is a lookup failure, not evidence that a product was deleted. A useful missing-location screen should retain the requested product code. That gives the picker something concrete to report instead of leaving an unexplained blank shelf label.

Keep strings double-quoted when editing this sample. A JSON parsing example explains the difference between a parse error and a valid value that the operation cannot use.
To review the missing-shelf message, include one known product code and one unknown code in the example. Share the runnable HTML through NOS with the picking team so they can compare a location string with undefined and choose useful feedback for both cases. Their preview edits are local to their run; sharing the HTML does not automatically synchronize those edits.
