A small cafe changes coffee from four units to five while tea keeps its current price. You need to update one lookup entry rather than rebuild unrelated prices. Map.set handles both an existing product and a newly introduced product with the same operation.
The result lists coffee at five and tea at three. Only the selected key changes, which makes the update easy to verify. Selecting cocoa instead introduces a third key rather than overwriting coffee. The same method handles both cases, but an interface may want different wording for changing a price and creating a new product entry.

Try the result before changing the rule
Edit the JSON and select Update preview to rerun the same expression. Original data restores this starting sample; Changed data supplies another preset. The operation runs locally in the example, so trying a value does not send an invitation, change a product, or save a setting.

Follow one run
The example builds a working Map from price pairs and sets the chosen item to the supplied price. Updating coffee replaces its previous value. set returns the same Map, so the separate Array.from call exposes the updated entries for display. The source JSON is not edited.
const data = {
"prices": [
[
"coffee",
4
],
[
"tea",
3
]
],
"item": "coffee",
"price": 5
};
const result = (() => { const prices = new Map(data.prices); prices.set(data.item,data.price); return Array.from(prices); })();
console.log(result);
The starting sample returns:
[
[
"coffee",
5
],
[
"tea",
3
]
]
The source uses entry pairs so you can see every key and value before the lookup is constructed. The working Map is separate from that source array. Converting its entries for display does not make the Map itself a JSON array, and reading it does not submit a catalog change.

Check the case that changes the answer
Map.set does not validate a price. A negative number or string will be stored unless you reject it beforehand, and key capitalization can accidentally create a different product entry.
Updating an existing key does not move it to the end of the Map. Inserting a new key does. set returns the collection itself, which makes chaining possible; it does not return the previous price. Read that previous value first if a price-change confirmation needs to show the old and new amounts together.
The smaller version keeps the same expression with fewer visual elements. Use Edit code to inspect the complete HTML, or Copy code to run it as a local file. If the script does not execute, the JavaScript troubleshooting guide helps check placement and syntax.

Make one edit you can predict
Try setting coffee to six, then set cocoa to five. Compare updating an existing key with appending a new key while retaining the other prices.
Set coffee to six and expect coffee six, tea three. Change item to cocoa with the same price and expect coffee four, tea three, cocoa six because each preview rebuilds from the starting data. That fresh-start behavior keeps runs comparable; it is not a saved catalog update shared between visitors. Before offering an update confirmation, read the existing value and check whether the key is present. That separates changing a known product from adding an unfamiliar one.

Keep strings double-quoted when editing this sample. A JSON parsing example explains the difference between a parse error and a valid value that the operation cannot use.
A product-price review should distinguish updating coffee from creating cocoa. Add representative sample pairs to the HTML and share the runnable example through NOS. A teammate can try each case without changing a real catalog or assuming the preview saved a new price. Their preview edits are local to their run; sharing the HTML does not automatically synchronize those edits.
