A workshop estimate says you can make 12.6 batches. The schedule needs the number of fully completed batches, so counting 13 would promise work that the available capacity cannot finish.
Math.floor returns the greatest integer no larger than the value. Here that means 12. The remaining 0.6 is still present in the original input; the operation simply gives you the whole-capacity count used by the summary.

Count only complete positive batches
Math.floor(12.6) returns 12. For a positive capacity estimate, that matches the intuitive instruction to count only complete units. The method returns a number and leaves the source estimate unchanged.
Imagine capacity was calculated by dividing the available material by the material needed per batch. Apply floor to that quotient only after validating the inputs and units. A whole-count label then communicates the decision clearly: twelve complete batches can fit, with material left over.
Compare this with Math.round, which would give 13 for 12.6, and Math.ceil, which also gives 13 but answers a different question about covering the remainder.
const data = 12.6;
const result = Math.floor(data);
console.log(result);
The original sample returns:
12

Floor is not the same as dropping the fraction
Floor is not a general instruction to remove digits after the decimal point. With -12.6, it returns -13 because the result moves toward negative infinity. Math.trunc would instead return -12.
A workshop capacity normally should not be negative. Reject an impossible negative capacity rather than letting a mathematically valid floor result become a confusing production plan. Also handle a divisor of zero before calculating a quotient; an infinite result is not a usable batch count.
Do not mutate the original estimate just to display a whole number. Keeping the fractional capacity separate makes it possible to show the leftover amount or explain why the final complete count is smaller.
Check the capacity boundary
Try 12.1, 12.9, and 13. All values below 13 should still produce twelve complete batches, while exactly 13 produces thirteen. These are useful boundary checks for a capacity display.
Next, try -12.6 to see why floor and trunc are different. In an extended workshop example, label the negative input as invalid before showing a capacity card. A correct numerical method still needs a sensible rule for the application's domain.

The MDN reference for Math.floor() documents the method's full behavior and browser compatibility.
For help editing the sample input, the JSON guide explains valid JSON and how parsing turns it into JavaScript values.
Share a working explanation
A planner should be able to test the batch boundary before trusting the summary. Share the complete working example via HTML to link on NOS, keeping the original estimate visible beside the complete count. The shared page demonstrates the capacity rule without claiming to schedule or track real workshop jobs.
