A workshop signup list contains Maya twice because she submitted the form again. Before printing name badges, you need one entry per name. This small example turns four submitted values into three unique values while keeping their first appearance order.
The finished list reads Maya, Owen, and Nina. That is the useful outcome: three badges from four submissions, with Maya staying at the front. We are removing duplicate string values, not identifying real people. Keeping that distinction visible prevents a handy data-cleaning trick from becoming an unreliable identity check later in the registration workflow.

Try the result before changing the rule
Edit the JSON and select Update preview to rerun the same expression. Original data restores this starting sample; Changed data supplies another preset. The operation runs locally in the example, so trying a value does not send an invitation, change a product, or save a setting.

Follow one run
The constructor reads the array and stores each distinct string once. Array.from converts that Set into an array so the result panel can display it. Neither step edits the submitted array. Duplicate names disappear, but the remaining names are not alphabetically sorted.
const data = [
"Maya",
"Owen",
"Maya",
"Nina"
];
const result = Array.from(new Set(data));
console.log(result);
The starting sample returns:
[
"Maya",
"Owen",
"Nina"
]
The input is JSON-friendly, while the working collection is a Set. That distinction explains why the source panel can retain repeated values even when the result does not. When the result is a list, the wrapper converts the collection for display; a boolean or count is shown directly.

Check the case that changes the answer
Two people can share a name. Deduplicating names is useful for this demonstration, but production registrations should usually use a stable attendee identifier instead.
An empty registration list becomes an empty Set and then an empty array. Objects behave differently from names: two separately created attendee objects remain different Set entries even when their fields look identical. Extract an attendee ID first if that ID defines uniqueness. Set does not inspect an object and decide which fields matter.
The smaller version keeps the same expression with fewer visual elements. Use Edit code to inspect the complete HTML, or Copy code to run it as a local file. If the script does not execute, the JavaScript troubleshooting guide helps check placement and syntax.

Make one edit you can predict
Add another Owen entry and a new name. Predict which values will remain and where the new name will appear before running it.
Try Maya twice more and add Leo at the end. The returned array should still contain Maya once, followed by Owen, Nina, and Leo. Move Nina to the start of the source instead and her first occurrence moves to the start of the result. These checks establish uniqueness and order independently. Keep the first submitted spelling when displaying this result. Deduplication alone does not correct misspelled names, merge alternate spellings, or replace a stable registration ID.

Keep strings double-quoted when editing this sample. A JSON parsing example explains the difference between a parse error and a valid value that the operation cannot use.
Before turning the deduplicated list into badges, let a teammate check which registration ID should count as unique. Put representative sample registrations into the HTML and share the runnable example through NOS, so that discussion has a visible input and result. Their preview edits are local to their run; sharing the HTML does not automatically synchronize those edits.
