A trip packing list contains three items, and you want a numbered reminder for each one. Array.forEach is useful when the callback performs a small action such as collecting a message. This example keeps the initial list intact and shows the completed reminders separately.
The checklist reads 1. Pack charger, 2. Pack adapter, and 3. Pack notebook. The array holds only the items, while the callback adds a visible action and numbering. That makes the output useful to a traveler without changing the stored item names. The numbered reminders are collected separately so you can compare the source with the work performed.

Try the result before changing the rule
Edit the JSON and select Update preview to rerun the same expression. Original data restores this starting sample; Changed data supplies another preset. The operation runs locally in the example, so trying a value does not send an invitation, change a product, or save a setting.

Follow one run
forEach visits each present array element in ascending index order. The callback receives the item and its index, which supplies the visible numbering. It pushes each message into a separate checklist. The method itself returns undefined; the wrapper returns the array of messages built by those actions.
const data = [
"charger",
"adapter",
"notebook"
];
const result = (() => { const checklist = []; data.forEach((item,index) => { checklist.push((index + 1) + '. Pack ' + item); }); return checklist; })();
console.log(result);
The starting sample returns:
[
"1. Pack charger",
"2. Pack adapter",
"3. Pack notebook"
]
Keep the input array beside the result while testing. The source provides the items and their order; the expression defines what you retrieve or build from them. A changed result is not evidence that the source was edited. This particular callback or lookup leaves that input unchanged.

Check the case that changes the answer
Use map when you primarily want a new transformed array. forEach is not a breakable loop and does not wait for promises returned by an asynchronous callback.
The callback's second argument is the current zero-based index. Adding one creates human-readable numbering but does not give each item a persistent ID. Reordering the list changes those numbers. In ordinary JavaScript arrays, forEach skips empty slots; JSON input cannot express sparse slots, so the demo uses ordinary present values.
The smaller version keeps the same expression with fewer visual elements. Use Edit code to inspect the complete HTML, or Copy code to run it as a local file. If the script does not execute, the JavaScript troubleshooting guide helps check placement and syntax.

Make one edit you can predict
Add an umbrella and rerun, then change the item order. Check how the reminder numbers follow the array's positions rather than a permanent identifier for each item.
Append umbrella and expect 4. Pack umbrella after the original three reminders. Move umbrella to the beginning and expect it to receive number one instead. With an empty array, no callback runs and the checklist stays empty. For transformed output without separate actions, compare the same task written with map. For a persistent checklist, store completion state against a stable item ID. The temporary numbering in this example is intended for display rather than permanent identity.

Keep strings double-quoted when editing this sample. A JSON parsing example explains the difference between a parse error and a valid value that the operation cannot use.
To review a packing checklist, put your sample items into the HTML and share the runnable example through NOS. Another traveler can reorder an item and check how the numbering changes. That gives you a concrete way to discuss display order before adding completion state. Their preview edits are local to their run; sharing the HTML does not automatically synchronize those edits.
