An amount calculation should produce a usable number. A string that looks numeric, an infinite division result, and a failed calculation should not all receive the same confident total label.
Number.isFinite accepts only finite values whose type is number. The sample value 42 returns true. Changing it to the string "42" returns false, which is useful when you need to distinguish already validated numbers from unprocessed form text.

Require a finite value of numeric type
Number.isFinite(data) returns a boolean without converting data. For the original numeric input, the result is true. NaN, positive Infinity, and negative Infinity return false, as do strings and other non-number values.
This gives you a clear boundary after a calculation or explicit conversion: is the result a finite number? It leaves the source value unchanged and does not round or limit the amount.
A form field usually begins as text. If that text is allowed, validate the text's presence, convert it deliberately, and then use the finite check. Keeping those steps separate makes empty-input behavior easier to explain and test.
const data = 42;
const result = Number.isFinite(data);
console.log(result);
The original sample returns:
true

Finite does not mean within your allowed range
A finite number is not automatically an acceptable amount. Negative values, extremely large values, and fractional quantities can all be finite. Add your application's range, sign, or whole-unit rules after this check.
The global isFinite function converts its input, unlike Number.isFinite. For example, numeric strings can pass the global check. Use the method that matches your intended stage of validation rather than swapping them casually.
JSON cannot express Infinity or NaN directly. When testing those special values, use the copied JavaScript and create them with calculations such as 1 / 0. Ordinary JSON output may turn a non-finite numeric result into null, so a diagnostic should label it explicitly.
Place conversion and range checks deliberately
Compare 42, "42", and null in the editor. Only the first is already a finite number. Then copy the starter and compare the numeric string before and after Number conversion.
Add an explicit blank-input check before conversion, and add a range rule after the finite check. For a quantity limited to 0 through 100, both requirements matter: being finite cannot tell you whether 101 is allowed.

The MDN reference for Number.isFinite() documents the method's full behavior and browser compatibility.
For help editing the sample input, the JSON guide explains valid JSON and how parsing turns it into JavaScript values.
Share a working explanation
Share the complete validation example through HTML to link on NOS so a reviewer can try numeric, textual, and empty inputs. A working boundary check is clearer than a screenshot of true. Keep the page labeled as a browser-side validation example, not as a guarantee that submitted data is safe on a server.
