A price card needs two decimal places, including a trailing zero. That is display formatting rather than a new numeric value.
The number 12.5 should appear as 12.50 on a price label. We will add the missing decimal place with toFixed(2), then inspect the type of the returned value. The calculation and the display label have different jobs.

Try the working result
The result panel shows "12.50" with quotes: it is a string. Change the input to 12 and expect "12.00". Change it to 12.567 and expect "12.57". Those examples show both zero padding and rounding to the requested two decimal places.
Use Changed data for another preset, or edit the JSON and press Update preview. The controls use sample data; they do not contact a backend.

Follow the code
toFixed returns the string 12.50 while leaving the number unchanged.
The 2 is the number of digits after the decimal point. toFixed returns the formatted representation and leaves the source number alone. Keep numeric values while adding or multiplying amounts, then format the final value when placing it in a label.
const data = 12.5;
const result = data.toFixed(2);
console.log(result);
The original sample returns:
"12.50"
The quotes are the detail to notice. A numeric-looking string can look correct in the UI while behaving differently from a number in later JavaScript.

Take the small version apart
The starter uses the same operation with a simpler layout. Choose Edit code to inspect its HTML and script, or Copy code to save the complete example as index.html. Open that file in your browser to run it without a framework. JSON inputs need double-quoted keys and strings.

Avoid the common mistake
Floating-point representation can surprise rounding. Do arithmetic first and use appropriate financial decimal rules.
After formatting, "12.50" + 3 gives "12.503", because + concatenates when one operand is a string. Also, binary floating-point cannot represent every decimal exactly, so apparent halfway values can round unexpectedly. A production financial calculation needs its chosen decimal and rounding rules; toFixed alone does not supply them.
Change one rule, then check it
Check the result type before adding another amount.
Zero becomes "0.00", not an empty label. Try a negative number and check its minus sign stays visible. Keep the decimal-place argument within the supported 0–100 range. For locale-aware currency symbols and grouping, consider Intl.NumberFormat instead of manually adding those conventions.

The MDN reference covers the full syntax and browser support. If your saved page does not run its script, the HTML and JavaScript guide helps check the file setup.
Put the example in someone else's hands
A price-formatting preview helps someone check zeros, negative values, and long amounts without changing the arithmetic behind your page. Share the small example when the display needs review, then retain numbers separately in the larger application.
Copy the complete HTML and use HTML to link to share the runnable file through NOS. Each visitor can try the browser-side example; this does not synchronize edits or add a shared database.
