A comparison says that zero and negative zero are equal, yet a diagnostic needs to tell them apart. Another comparison says NaN is not equal to itself, even when both sides represent the same invalid-number result.
Object.is handles these two cases differently from strict equality. The sample starts with negative zero and reports three comparisons side by side. Its result makes the difference visible even though ordinary JSON output can hide the minus sign on zero.

Use Changed data to compare another sample, or edit the JSON and choose Update preview. Original data restores the starting case.

Compare signed zeros and NaN
The original input is -0. Object.is(data, 0) returns false, while Object.is(data, -0) returns true. The third comparison checks Object.is(NaN, NaN), which also returns true.
Object.is generally agrees with strict equality, but these numeric cases matter: strict equality considers +0 and -0 equal and considers NaN unequal to itself. Object.is distinguishes the signed zeros and matches NaN with NaN.
None of the comparisons changes data. Read the returned object to see all three booleans; do not use the displayed source value alone to infer the sign, because JSON serialization represents negative zero as 0.
const data = -0;
const result = ({sameAsZero: Object.is(data, 0), sameAsNegativeZero: Object.is(data, -0), nanMatchesItself: Object.is(NaN, NaN)});
console.log(result);
The original sample returns:
{
"sameAsZero": false,
"sameAsNegativeZero": true,
"nanMatchesItself": true
}

Same value does not mean matching object contents
Object.is is not a deep object comparison. Two separately created objects with identical fields are different values because they have different identities. The method returns true for objects only when both arguments refer to the same object.
Type also matters: the string "0" and the number 0 do not become equal. There is no automatic conversion to make them match.
The JSON editor cannot express NaN, so the example constructs it in code for the third comparison. This is a useful reminder that an input editor and JavaScript's full value model are different things. A faithful diagnostic may need explicit labels for special numbers instead of plain JSON.
Contrast Object.is with strict equality
Change the input to ordinary 0. The first two booleans should swap, while nanMatchesItself remains true because that check does not depend on your input.
In the copied starter, compare Object.is with === for zero, negative zero, and NaN. Then create two objects containing the same title and compare them. These experiments identify exactly which question the method answers: same value, with specific numeric handling, rather than matching object contents.

The MDN reference for Object.is() documents the method's full behavior and browser compatibility.
For help editing the sample input, the JSON guide explains valid JSON and how parsing turns it into JavaScript values.
Share a working explanation
These edge cases are easier to review in a working comparison than in a screenshot of the number zero. Share the complete file using HTML to link on NOS so someone can inspect the boolean results. Keep the special-value labels visible when adapting the example into a diagnostic page.
