A verification panel receives a typed code and a stored reference. Both look like 42 on screen, yet one is text and one is a number. Showing the comparison alongside their types helps explain why appearance alone cannot determine equality.
The original comparison reports match false, enteredType string, and expectedType number. That is the useful finished outcome: the interface explains a rejection that otherwise looks arbitrary. A booking code may be a textual identifier rather than a quantity, so automatically converting it just to make a comparison pass could erase meaningful formatting such as leading zeros.

Build the working example
const data = {"entered":"42","expected":42};
const result = data&&typeof data==='object' ? {match:data.entered===data.expected,enteredType:typeof data.entered,expectedType:typeof data.expected} : 'Enter entered and expected values';
console.log(result);
Strict equality compares these primitive values without converting their types. The supplied string and number therefore produce match false. The two type labels make that outcome visible. Changing entered to the numeric 42 makes the comparison succeed without editing the reference.
The expression reads entered and expected without changing either value. With strict equality, differently typed primitives are unequal, even when their characters look similar. If both values are numbers 42, the comparison succeeds. If both are strings 42, it also succeeds. This differs from Object.is only in specific primitive cases such as NaN and signed zero; Object.is is not a substitute for checking the shape of imported records. Neither operator performs a deep comparison of two separately created objects. Here the two type labels are deliberately part of the result, because the intended rule is accepting the right value in the expected representation.
The original input returns:
{
"match": false,
"enteredType": "string",
"expectedType": "number"
}

Test the boundary that matters
Change entered from the quoted string 42 to the number 42. Update the preview and expect match true with two number labels. Then try an empty entered string: match should be false and the entered type should still say string. An empty object has missing fields, so this focused sample compares undefined with undefined and reports true. That result is a reason to validate required properties before using this comparison in a real verifier, not a reason to conclude that an empty submission contains a valid code.

Two separate objects are not strictly equal merely because their properties look identical. Strict equality compares object identity; it is not a deep content comparison.
If the complete page stops before producing a result, compare it with the checks in HTML JavaScript not working.
Make one useful change
Change entered from quoted 42 to numeric 42, then compare two separately written object values. Explain why those two experiments produce different lessons.
The exercise comparing two separate objects should produce false, even if their fields match. If your booking rule accepts digit strings, normalize both legitimate code inputs consistently and validate their format before comparison. Do not normalize an absent value into a valid looking code. The preview's type labels are a diagnostic aid; the eventual customer interface can use clearer wording once the underlying acceptance policy is agreed.
A teammate reviewing imported booking data can now see why the apparently identical codes differ. Share the complete comparison preview with NOS and ask them to test the representation used by the real import. That helps settle the format policy before the code is connected to actual verification, where trusted server checks must enforce the final rule.
For the exact syntax and behavior, see MDN: strict equality.
