Launch notes mention #design and #writing. You want two topic chips without their hash signs, and you may need more than one match from the same note. String.matchAll() provides each matching occurrence and its capture groups.
The finished result is design and writing as separate array entries. The example keeps the captured topic rather than the entire hashtag text.

Try the working result
Use Changed data to compare a second sample, or edit the JSON and press Update preview. Original data restores the starting example. This is a running browser demonstration, so the visible result comes from the operation rather than a fixed screenshot.

Follow the operation
The pattern /#([a-z]+)/gi begins with a literal hash sign. The parentheses capture the following letters as group one. The g flag searches globally, and i allows either letter case.
data.matchAll returns an iterator of match arrays. Array.from consumes that iterator, and its callback selects match[1] from each occurrence. That is why the visible result contains design rather than #design.
The i flag affects matching, not the returned spelling. A source hashtag #Design produces the captured text Design. If all your chips should be lowercase, normalize each captured result as a separate presentation rule.
Here is the exact expression behind the original result:
const data = "Launch notes: #design and #writing";
const result = Array.from(data.matchAll(/#([a-z]+)/gi), match => match[1]);
console.log(result);
Its returned value is:
[
"design",
"writing"
]

Handle the important boundary
A RegExp argument passed to matchAll must include the global flag; omitting it throws a TypeError. The result is also an iterator, so consume it before expecting array-only operations.
This deliberately simple pattern recognizes ASCII letters after a hash. It stops before digits or underscores and is not a complete hashtag specification for every language. If your audience uses topics such as #web2026 or non-Latin text, choose and test an appropriate pattern instead of treating this sample as universal.
Make the behavior your own
Add #Research to the note and inspect its preserved capitalization. Then remove all hashtags: the collected result should be an empty array rather than an error.
In the copied starter, test #web2026 and #design_team to see exactly where the simple capture stops. Define the characters your application accepts before expanding the expression. Finally, try two identical hashtags and decide whether repeated mentions should create duplicate chips or be deduplicated afterward.

For the full definition and compatibility details, see the MDN reference for String.matchAll. If the copied file's script does not run, the HTML and JavaScript guide covers the surrounding setup.
Share a version worth testing
Topic-chip rules are easier to review with real-looking notes than with an isolated regex. Share the complete HTML using HTML to link so a reviewer can try spelling and duplication cases. Each visitor runs a local demonstration; their notes are not automatically collected into a shared topic database.
